I can remember we put black curtains on the window
We had black-outs, and I can remember we put black curtains on the window, made them. And I can remember one time I was living with my mother and somebody had lifted a corner up, and there was just a little corner, and then my mother was fined for it.
If you were on your own, it was very hard, But if you were with a family, and mixed it all, it wasn't quite so bad then you see.
At the end of the war we had parties, celebrated. An we all contributed towards it, because there was the rationing. We all had to give 'summat' you know.
I lost my husband he died abroad. He was only twenty three and I was twenty. He died out in Cairo. He had meningitis.
