Food Ration Book belonging to Robert Charles Richards, 1947, front [image 1 of 3]
Rationing of many items continued after the end of the war, as can be seen from this Ministry of Food Ration Book, dated 1947 - 1948.
Elizabeth Richards lived with her parents in Trellech, Monmouthshire, throughout the Second World War. In the summer of 1940, a bomb landed in their garden, blowing in the windows and doors of the house, but leaving the family otherwise unharmed. She went on to teach Home Economics in several schools across the country.
